PRESS RELEASE
Not much is remembered about the Philippine Constabulary Band today except as a military musical band that performed at Rizal Park or in events in and out of Manila during the American period. The Philippine Constabulary Band made history with the musical talents of its band director, Walter Howard Loving, and its Filipino members. Aside from gracing events in the Philippines, the Band played before international audience at the St. Louis Exposition in 1904, the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915, and the Golden Gate Exposition in 1939 and won accolades from press reviews abroad. They performed before the emperor of Japan and the inauguration of President William Howard Taft. The National Historical Commission of the Philippines is pleased to announce the launching of Dr. Robert L. Yoder’s book, IN PERFORMANCE: WALTER HOWARD LOVING AND THE PHILIPPINE CONSTABULARY BAND, and the formal turn-over of his website, RIZAL’S LIFE AND WRITINGS, on the 28th of Febuary 2013, 2:00 p.m., at the NHCP Multi Purpose Hall, 4F, NHCP Building, T.M. Kalaw St., Ermita Manila. Tel. No. 536-3181; 254-7482 local 123. |
