NHCP unveils the Simbahan ng Caraga historical marke

CARAGA, DAVAO  ORIENTAL - The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) unveils on Monday, 16 July 2012, the historical marker  “Simbahan ng Caraga” in Caraga, Davao Oriental, in celebration of 127th anniversary of  the Parochial Fiesta. The marker states:

IPINATAYO NI PADRE PABLO PASTELLS, S.J. KAAGAPAY SI  PADRE JUAN TERRICABRAS, S.J.  YARI SA KAHOY, KORALES AT BATO, 1877.  NATAPOS ANG SIMBAHAN AT NAGING  PAROKYA SA PATRONATO NI SAN SALVADOR DEL MUNDO, 1884.  NAGSILBING SENTRO NG MISYON NG MGA HESWITA SA PAGTATAG NG MGA PUEBLO AT PAGPALAGANAP NG EBANGHELYO SA SILANGANG BAHAGI NG MINDANAO NOONG PANAHON NG MGA ESPANYOL.  IPINAMAHALA SA MGA PARI NG FOREIGN MISSION OF QUEBEC, 1939; MARYKNOLL MISSIONERS, 1961; DIYOSESIS NG  TAGUM, 1978; AT DIYOSESIS NG MATI, 1984.

                     
  

The unveiling ceremony is being organized by NHCP in cooperation with the Municipality of Caraga and the Diocese of Mati.
 
 
NHCP Executive Ludovico D. Badoy and Most Rev. Patricio H. Alo, DD will lead the unveiling ceremony. They will be assisted by Congressman Nelson Dayanghirang, Governor Corazon N. Malanya-on, Mayor William S. Duma-an, SB Member Erlinda C. Anderson and Rev. Fr. Uldarico A. Toroba. The marker shall be officially turned over to the Diocese of Mati. Mayor William S. Duma-an and  NHCP Archt. Wilkie Delumen will stand as witnesses during the signing of the Certificate of Transfer of the historical marker.


The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote and preserve Philippine history and heritage through research, information dissemination, conservation, including the marking of historic sites and structures, and the maintenance and administration of national shrines, monuments and landmarks.
